Summer 2011

So I would have given a more detailed title but since it has been so long and so many things have happened, figured it was appropriate. This summer has been absolutely insane but has been filled with unexpected blessings. We have taken wonderful trips and moved into a sweet family friend's house. We were broken into in early June and that is what prompted the move. We have started our house search! Whoohoo! So, I promise that I will keep up with the blog to let you see where we end up! I am thrilled to be able to have people stay with us and have a house that we can entertain and bless others.

Here are some pictures from our mission trip to Panama:

Mack, Lindy, and Maddy came to the Metroplex to celebrate Mack's birthday. It was so great to spend time with them!

I started training for my full marathon in December and cannot wait until we break the 100's outside! Praying for rain!

Much love from us to you!

Marathon and a mustache

Just look at that face! Grant, Kendra, and Asher came over last night and that little boy kept us entertained. He is growing up so fast!

Asher is trying to figure out what is going on with Uncle John's mustache
After the race, looking a little rough!
I think I can.....
So proud of you!

Last weekend was the Rock N Roll marathon in Dallas. Meagan, one of my college roommates, came to run it and it was so great to spend the weekend with her! I finished 1:42:56, which was about a 7:52 per mile. So, so fun! It was cooler outside and overcast which was perfect running weather. I took this week a little easy but it is back to training. We are thinking the next big race will be in November. This one will be a full...makes me a little nauseous thinking about it! But this race is in...drumroll...Savannah, GA!! I can make it through 26.2 miles if I know that after the race, I will be eating at Paula Dean's restaurant. Talk about motivation! So that is the plan, wish me luck!

I realize this is the first post in forever! Here is the breakdown of the last couple of weeks/months:
Trained for marathon
Work has been INSANE
John has been traveling every week
Youth Group

That doesn't look like that much, but seems like life is a whirlwind right now. Will post again soon. All of our love to you!

Oh so cute felt rose wreath

I can honestly say that I am one of the least crafty, handy, artsy, etc. girls you have ever met. I mean, I get excited when I write my name well! So this is a huge accomplishment! This wreath is so easy, a little time consuming, but fun to make. I found it off of: http://calebdanielle.blogspot.com/2010/10/diy-yarn-wreath-with-felt-flowers.html. It took about a weekend to make and it is super cute when you are finished! I am always drawn to yellow and blue together, love those siggie colors!

Just started the yarn part and in a couple of hours later.. voila..all covered!
Add a couple of felt flowers and you are finished.

Blessings,
K

Susan G. Komen: Marathon for the Cure

Sadly, it has touched touched everyone. Cancer has found its way into every household causing pain and sadness. I have personally felt this grief when I lost a grandfather four years ago to colon cancer. John lost his sweet aunt several years ago as well. I have decided to become involved in the fight against cancer by running in the Race for the Cure marathon on March 27. Susan G. Komen has pledged to invest another $2 billion in scientific research and community health programs over the next decade, and bring breast health awareness to communities around the world. I have pledged to raise $300 to go toward that goal. I am humbly asking you to help support me in my training and race either monetarily or in prayer. Pray that this money will bless the resistance against cancer. Donations can be made out to: Susan G. Komen Marathon for the Cure and mailed to me. You will then receive a tax receipt in the mail.

I am so thankful to be able to participate in this event and I am so thankful that we have a loving Father who is bigger than any illness or hardship that comes in this lifetime. I know that my grandfather is in such a better place and that I will see him again. Thank you for your support and blessings to you.
